About Anderson Manufacturing

Anderson Manufacturing, based in Hebron, Kentucky, and founded in 1955, became one of the highest-volume producers of AR-15 rifles and components in the United States — making more AR-style lower receivers than any other U.S. manufacturer. The company built its reputation on making the AR platform genuinely affordable, and its low-cost, widely available lowers became a staple for home builders across the country.

The AM-15 is the heart of the lineup: a standard-pattern AR-15 offered as complete rifles, uppers, and the ubiquitous stripped and complete lowers that fill so many builds. Anderson's RF85 friction-reducing treatment and its broad parts catalog rounded out an offering aimed squarely at value and accessibility.

In 2025, Sturm, Ruger & Co. acquired Anderson Manufacturing's assets, bringing its high-volume Kentucky facility into the Ruger family. Ruger has indicated it will integrate Anderson's manufacturing capacity into its own operations rather than continue the Anderson brand, so existing Anderson-marked rifles and receivers are increasingly collector and builder finds.
