Browning carries the name of John Moses Browning, the most prolific firearms designer in history, whose patents shaped nearly every modern action — from the 1911 pistol to the BAR to the autoloading shotgun. Today's company, headquartered in Morgan, Utah, builds sporting arms to a standard that has made "Browning" shorthand for quality in the deer woods and on the clays course alike.
The lineup is broad and deep. The X-Bolt — with its rotary bolt and Feather Trigger — is one of the most popular hunting rifles in America, backed by the A-Bolt before it and the BLR lever and BAR semi-auto for those who want something different. On the shotgun side, the Citori over/under is a clay-target and upland institution, joined by the Cynergy O/U and the A5, Maxus, and Silver semi-autos. The Buck Mark rimfire pistol rounds things out as one of the great plinking and small-bore target guns.
For hunters and shooters who want guns built on more than a century of design heritage, Browning remains, as its slogan promises, "the best there is."
