About Marlin

Marlin Firearms was founded in 1870 by John Marlin in New Haven, Connecticut, and spent the next 150 years becoming one of the great names in American lever-action rifles. Its hallmark — side ejection paired with a solid-top receiver — made Marlins easy to scope and helped define the modern lever gun. The .30-30 Model 336 became one of the most popular deer rifles ever made, the pistol-caliber 1894 a favorite for cowboy action and the trail, and the big-bore .45-70 Model 1895 a benchmark for power in a handy package.

After Remington's parent company went through bankruptcy, Sturm, Ruger & Co. acquired Marlin's assets in 2020 and relaunched the line — beginning with the 1895, followed by the 336 and 1894 — built to Ruger's standards at its Mayodan, North Carolina facility. The reborn Marlins have been widely praised for fit, finish, and accuracy that meet or exceed the classics.

For lever-gun shooters, Marlin is American tradition with modern manufacturing behind it.
