About Walther
Carl Walther founded his arms company in 1886 in Zella-Mehlis, Germany, and within a few decades it had reshaped the handgun. The PP (1929) and compact PPK (1931) were among the first commercially successful double-action semi-automatic pistols, and the PPK became one of the most recognizable handguns in the world as James Bond's sidearm. The P38 that followed pioneered the double-action/single-action design in a full-size military service pistol.
That tradition of innovation carries into the modern lineup. The striker-fired PPQ — and now the PDP (Performance Duty Pistol), with its aggressive ergonomics and optic-ready slide — represent some of the best-handling polymer duty pistols on the market. The rimfire P22 and the .22 WMR WMP make affordable, fun range guns, the PD380 brings a soft-shooting carry option, and the Hammerli line carries Walther's precision rimfire heritage.
Walther's U.S. operation, Walther Arms, is based in Fort Smith, Arkansas. For shooters who value ergonomics, accuracy, and German engineering, Walther has earned its place among the great pistol makers.
